Just chillin' by the lagoon. Or, in this case, tiny spring-fed puddle (but to a feep-sized creature that's as good as a lagoon).

When I found out the red noses for this year's Red Nose Day were monster noses, I had a friend in England send me a set in exchange for a donation to their team. [They are actually red; that orange splotch is a combination of the flashlight I was using to illuminate the scene and the crappiness of my creaky old digital camera.]

It seemed natural to pose a monster with the monsters, so here we are.

The lion, by the way, is Clayborn, an important member of the menagerie of my youth.

Plenty of palm trees, but I saw no coconuts. Wrong season, or a careful culling to avoid random conks on the noggin by miniature cannon balls?

I made a few feep turtles like this, with glass beads for shells. It was a bit of a hassle, though, since the bead had to be removed during baking and then glued back on after. I have definitely gravitated towards reducing the number of steps involved in feep creation, even as the feeps themselves grow more complex.

As you can see by the color, this turtle consumes a great many energy drinks. It is a frequent winner of turtle races, with top speeds of up to .000000734 miles per hour.

This turtle looks rather like it wants to play fetch. Just be really patient about how long it takes to retrieve the stick.

Blue Turtle

I spent some time yesterday on Turtle Rescue Detail - found a sizable turtle a long way from the creek and wound up having to carry her quite a ways to get to a part with deep enough water for her. She didn't seem to think it was the most fun she'd ever had.

I used to live near a pond that had several different turtle species living in it, primarily snappers, red-eared sliders, and softshells. My feep turtles are kind of a mash-up of those three types (not that I'm ever trying for any anatomical accuracy with my sculptures).
