Large Green & Black Tentacle Twist

SuperFlex is also good for making really big tentacle monsters. Most of my XL feeps have been made from SuperFlex. So why did I stop using the stuff? I had a couple of batches in a row of clay that was far too hard to work with, and since most of the colors were only available in multi-packs, it was difficult to know ahead of time if the clay I was getting was any good.

The Oasis Gift Shop, which is attached to The Oasis restaurant on Lake Travis, now carries feep mugs, shot glasses, and buttons. If things go well, I'll be adding new items in the coming months, including coasters, tiles, and pillows (!!). The Oasis Gift Shop features a great many other items by local artists, so if you're in Austin you should stop by sometime.

Purple & Yellow Leviathan

I've been working on some new monsters the last couple of days, which I'm hoping to photograph today. I'm using a different clay this time around: Kato Polyclay instead of my usual Sculpey Premo. It's supposed to be extremely strong after firing, so we'll see if it turns out to be enough of a durability upgrade to switch over permanently.

Dog Monster Mug

Working, working, working on getting all the new shirts photographed and resultant images prepped. Yes, I took pictures of the actual, IRL shirts in each size instead of Photoshopping a bunch of mockups because, I guess, I'm kind of insane. In theory I should only have to do this once for each design, though, so it's not actually as bad as it seems.

At any rate, I hope to have the new shirts up in the Feep eBay Store later on today. There are also a few figurines left to list, but the mugs and shot glasses are already up. So. There you have it.

As you might recall, I've been working away at redesigning the feeps' home website. Well, I finally finished it and have launched Feeping Creatures 3.0! There's a ton of new content, so check it out.

Shadow Boxes - Circuit Workers

I'm currently working away at redesigning the feeps' main website. I haven't been keeping up with the galleries over there, partially because the Daily Monster provides a constant source of new photos, but also because the site design was so creaky I just didn't like working with it (I programmed it myself, and I am not what you would call a programmer). But I'm redoing it with CSS this time, which will make updates and tweaks a billion times easier than my 1997-style code. You don't care, do you? My point is, I'll let you know when the new site is up so you can check it out.

STAPLE! tomorrow

Tomorrow, Saturday the 7th, is STAPLE! The Independent Media Expo, and I will be there with the feeps in tow. It's at the Monarch Event Center in Austin, from 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM. Click that there link for more details. Hope to see you there!

New eBay Store feeps and Wheatsville Arts Festival

I've put up a handful of new feeps in the eBay Store (6 figurines and 1 necklace), but eBay has been doing a lot of upgrading of their site lately and I'm not sure how to do a filter of just those pieces. Also, eBay apparently no longer lets you pay by check or money order, I guess? It's all PayPal all the time. I'm not really sure what the deal is specifically, and I think most everyone who buys stuff from me mostly pays by PayPal anyway, but FYI the decision to stop accepting checks was eBay's, not mine.

Finally, the Wheatsville Arts Festival approacheth! It's happening Dec. 6-7, 2008, and I will be there once again with my tent o' feeps. Unlike years past, though, it will NOT be in the Wheatsville Co-Op parking lot, but rather in Adams Park, which is a block or two from the Co-Op (it's on 30th street behind the fire station). Anyway, I'm going to be feeping like mad over the next couple of weeks to prep for that. I don't know that I'm going to get any new listings up until after the show. If you are not able to make it to the festival but are planning to buy feeps for the holidays, I will try to get at least one more round of store updates done with enough padding to make sure everything can be shipped in plenty of time. So! There you have it.

Razorback Eyestalk

This feep was one of several that went to Sparks Cards & Gifts earlier this week when I did a restock there. And there will, of course, be many new feeps on hand for STAPLE! on Saturday (at the Monarch Event Center in Lincoln Village).

For those of you not in Austin, I'll be doing an eBay Store update after STAPLE! is over and I've had a chance to recover. But yes, the monsters are on the march!

It's true I haven't had much time to make new feeps lately. I've been working on a number of different projects, including the new Feep Mini-Coloring Book, which I'm hoping to have ready in time for STAPLE! on March 1. Which is about two weeks away. EEK.

I do have a batch of new monsters, though, that I'm hoping to put up in the eBay Store sometime in the next couple of days.

Service Advisory

I'm going to be at Wizard World all weekend and am on a borrowed computer, so the Daily Monster is going to be on hold until the madness is over. I'll be back Monday morning with more monstery goodness!

Big-Horned Spike Orneryment

I think I posted this feep before as a necklace, but I have randomly decided it needs to be an Orneryment, so it has been converted. As you may know, Orneryments are the feeping incarnation of xmas ornaments. And yes, I know it's not even Halloween yet, but that's life in retail. Or it could be a Halloween ornament for your Halloween tree, how about that.

This feep had been at the Stash here in Austin, but they have unfortunately had to close permanently, so I put the remainder of the Stash stock up in the Feeping Creatures eBay Store.

Brennen Von Snoot

"Yer not gonna cook me again, are ya?" asks Brennen Von Snoot, of the well-known and widely-dispersed Von Snoot family.

This feep is one of several that I dropped off at Sparks Cards & Gifts here in Austin, my latest venture into the land of retail. Sparks is located on 6th street right next to Waterloo Records and Amy's Ice Cream, so if you're in the area drop by and say hello to the feeps!

Space Earwig iron-on

I've opened a Feeping Creatures Etsy store as a way to maintain an online shop when I'm at shows (I typically take the eBay store down to avoid accidentally double-selling anything), and to take advantage of a marketplace that's specifically geared to handmade items and small runs of reproductions from independent artists.

One of the new items I'm offering are feep iron-ons, made from some of my favorite Feep drawings, so that people can make their own feep shirts. This is especially useful for making shirts for kids since I can't really maintain a huge selection of every size and every color of shirt.

The Etsy store is also going to have listings for a lot of the art that I don't cart to shows, as well as (eventually) a representative gallery of the most popular figurine styles. I'll be adding a lot of stuff over the next couple of weeks, so check back frequently.

Introductory Post

I already have a Feeping Creatures blog on MySpace, as well as a dedicated Feeping Creatures website, and I intend to keep up with those as well, but this one is for something a little different and I think Blogger has a better setup for what I want to do with this.

The point of this blog is simply that I have a metric ton of feep photos I've accumulated that I'm not using. They're mostly pictures I've taken for listings in my eBay store, but those listings disappear after the feep sells, and anyway eBay is a terrible setup for simply looking at pictures. The images I'm going to be posting here are from my collection of otherwise unused photos, and I plan to try to post a new feep everyday so there will be a regular influx of new content. I don't post all my feep photos on the main site because it just gets overwhelming to sift through all that if all you're trying to do is get a basic idea of the feeps, and the images get a little bit repetitive as I return to certain styles. So the main site is really more about a representative gallery than an archive. This blog will be the archive.
