I'm going to experiment with converting my desk into a standing desk. Unfortunately, this will mean losing the shelf I put new feeps on to keep them out of sight and out of mind of a certain very bad cat. If this whole standing desk thing works out, I shall have to come up with a new solution to that particular problem.

My suspicion is that this is not a true octopus, but rather a tentacle monster who has evolved to mimic an octopus.

Feeps: The Making Of

The feeps have a dedicated toaster oven in which I bake them once I'm done sculpting. These Octopi are perched on glass ramekins so their tentacles will hang down as they sit upon your monitor or shelf.

Monitor Octopi

It turns out that most feeps can sit relatively comfortably on top of a flatscreen monitor. Not all, but most. However, I decided to take full advantage of the medium and design a few that are specifically intended as monitor-sitters. Hence this set of feeping octopi, with their dangling tentacles.

I made this feep a couple of years ago for a project that never quite came together. Since then it has sat on my desk in various capacities. Back in the early days of feepdom CRT monitors were still common, so it wasn't difficult to get most any feep to sit on a monitor. Nowadays, the proliferation of flatscreens means that most feeps can't comfortably sit on most monitors (habitat destruction!). This octopus, however, manages to do so without difficulty and makes me think I should create more flatscreen-friendly feeps (adaptation!).

Being filled with air assists with buoyancy, of course.

It can cause a bit of taxonomical confusion (and embarrassment, needless to say!) when you've got a face like an octopus but a tentacle count like a squid.
