Ceramic Beholder Jar

Here's another high school ceramics class monstrosity. The lumpiness kind of works with the disgusting shape a beholder usually has, though I clearly didn't have the patience for all 10 eyestalks. I think in general my high school art classes were exercises in plowing through assignments rather than enjoying the creative possibilities of a given medium. My skill level improved dramatically in college, where things were a bit more freeform. So, while I would never present a piece like this for sale, it's interesting to look back on it to get a sense of my progression.

Werewolf and Feep sketch

My doodles from last night's Dungeons & Dragons session. And no, we fought neither a werewolf nor a feep (how many hit points does a feep have, anyway?).

Dragon sketch

I drew this last night whilst playing Dungeons & Dragons (yes, I am that kind of nerd).

Dungeons & Dragons Mini Feep: Druid

This is another feep from the set of Dungeons & Dragons character miniatures I was commissioned to make.

Dungeons & Dragons Sorcerer Feep

Another feep from the commissioned D&D miniatures set. This feep did not want to be photographed and kept casting spells on the camera to make the pictures come out blurry. Obviously my shortcomings as a photographer were in no way a factor.

Dungeons & Dragons Fighter Feep

I don't tend to think of the feeps as brute-force types, but if one were to go around swinging swords at people this is what it would look like. Actually, come to think of it, a lot of the feeps take more after the monsters one battles in D&D rather than the heroes one plays.

Another feep from the Dungeons & Dragons mini commission.

Dungeons & Dragons Bard Feep

Another D&D Feep, this time a lute with an eyeball. Insetting the strings, which are pieces of wire, turned out to be more difficult than I expected. The wire was very fine and flexible, so just pinching it between my fingers would cause it to bow. Next time: use more rigid wire.

Dungeons & Dragons Ranger Feep

Another of the commissioned Feep D&D figurine set. Very Errol Flynn.

Dungeons & Dragons Barbarian Feep

Someone had recently asked me to post pictures of a commission I did a couple of years ago (2005, I think?) where I made a set of Feep Dungeons & Dragons miniatures. I've been meaning to post them since forever anyway, so this seems like a good excuse.

All the figs are very tiny, as they have to fit in a 1" x 1" square. They're made of SuperFlex Sculpey. I'm starting with the Barbarian since it begins with "b" and is therefore the first file in the folder.
