Crepuscular Monster Impatiently Waits for Sunset
Or, as I've been calling it, "Rage, Rage Against the Shining of the Light." Another new one I just finished this week.
This one has some details that are probably obscured by the thumbnail version, so click on the image to see it bigger.

Purple Makara
A Makara, for those of you who don't know, is an Indian river monster whose form amuses me and lends itself to feepiness.
What you see here is a drawing I finished recently, featuring another of my makara incarnations.

Red & Black Tentacle Twist
Observe! This is the first new tentacle twist I've made in a couple of years. As you can tell by the archives here, I used to make them all the time, but then mysteeeeeeriously stopped.
Part of it was moving on to other things for awhile, but the main culprit was the clay. While Premo is better than regular Sculpey for the durability of delicate things like tentacles, it's also a great deal stickier in its raw state. So I'd try to make a tentacle twist, and the tentacles would keep sticking to each other, and would tear when I tried to pull them apart. Not acceptable! But this one is made with Kato Polyclay, which is also highly durable but not nearly as sticky, so I was able to position the tentacles at my leisure.
So now you know.

Purple Bat Necklace
Did a wee update to the Etsy store last night, which includes this bat necklace.
I haven't made too many bats in the past due to the fact that they're kind of a pain to make (I blame the wings). But I have made a discovery that helps cut down on the effort considerably, so hopefully the future shall be significantly more batty.
Also, this is the first batch of Feeps made with Kato Polyclay instead of Sculpey Premo.

Purple & Yellow Leviathan
I've been working on some new monsters the last couple of days, which I'm hoping to photograph today. I'm using a different clay this time around: Kato Polyclay instead of my usual Sculpey Premo. It's supposed to be extremely strong after firing, so we'll see if it turns out to be enough of a durability upgrade to switch over permanently.

Treetop Monsters
I just finished this yesterday. I'm not actually 100% certain those are treetops. Originally I think the background stuff was going to be rocks or sea floor or something, but then I found an awesome frame that begged for a lot of green in the piece, so they're vaguely tree-ish now. Maybe moss-covered stones. That works, too.
I'm going to be out of town the rest of the week, so I shall resume the blog next Monday.

Tropical Snoot Bird
Wow, so the Art Show "Closing" Party went really well last night. Thanks to everyone who came! If you missed it, the good news is that the show has been extended through September, so you still have a chance to check it out. And we're going to try to cycle some new stuff in, too, just to mix things up a bit.

Black & White Cat vs. Blue Cat
The cat on the left has eaten a couple of feeps in her day, making the cat on the right something of a daredevil.
Also, just to remind you, the closing party for the ASG Art Show at the Hideout (617 Congress Ave. in Austin) is this Saturday, Sept. 4th, from 7:00 - 9:00 PM. It's downtown, right next to 6th Street, so it's a great pre-partytime stop for you. Come bask in the art!
