I've started a tumblr page for the Feeps. I feel like tumblr might be a better fit for the type of photo blogging I do, so I'm giving it a try. I'll be posting several new feep pix over there, including a little photo essay starring that mysterious new feep up above, so if you'd like to follow along just click that link.

Here at the House of Feep, it's pretty much Halloween year round. That said, I don't often make Halloween-specific feeps for some reason. My goal this October is to rectify that, so I've been working away on ghosts and vampires and skull monsters.
Of course, I'm going to be out of town for, like, the first half of October, more or less, so posting will continue to be light for awhile. But my plan, my hope, is to spend the couple of weeks in the run-up to Halloween posting tons of pictures of the monsters I've been working on. So! Fear not, there will be many a feep in the near future.

I am back from California and the convention, and I have brought the inevitable post-flight/con cold home with me. So I'm moving a little slow. BUT! I am getting several new feeps listed in the Etsy shop this week, so check in periodically to see the new faces.

Prepping for another convention. This time it's Comikaze Expo in Los Angeles, which is happening this very weekend, Sept. 15-16. This will be the feeps' first foray into LA!

Sorry posting has been so sporadic lately. I keep getting attacked by deadline monsters. They can be rather pesky and persistent, don't you know. But they tend to leave money behind once they've been defeated, so one can't really complain too much.

Waiting for random knights to show up and storm the castle can be lonely, dull work. Hence, the typical tentacle twist composes angsty poetry to pass the time.
Waiting here in solitude,
Upon the loneliness I brood.
Guarding treasures is my lot,
But such trinkets please me not.
I yearn only to be free
of self-imposed captivity!
As you may have gleaned, the tentacles are really just for show. The monster intends to slay the hero with bad verse.

I'm back from Space City Con. It was a great show! I'm a bit worn out, though ... not sure how THAT happened (gaming until 1:30 in the morning might have had something to do with it).

I'm off to Houston for Space City Con. This will be my first show in Houston in three years, so if you're in H-town this weekend, stop by and say hi!

In just a couple of weeks I will be setting up a table full o' feeps at Houston's Space City Con. It's their first year, and it sounds like it's going to be great! Also, this will be my first visit to Houston in, I think, three years. Come on out, Houston, and support your newest gaming con!

Good news, everyone! The Feeping Creatures Store on Etsy is now set up to accept credit cards directly. This means you don't need to use PayPal if you don't want to. Should make for faster checkout, too, if I am not mistaken. If you give it a try, let me know what you think!

Posting may be a bit sporadic over the next few weeks - lots of projects, and a bit of travel. I'll update here as often as I can, but don't be surprised if it ain't every day.
Also, damn. Look at how much crappier my photos with the old camera were. But hey, if you're not improving here and there you're doing something wrong.

Clearly this is one of those snails that, as it grows, must find bigger and bigger pieces of discarded candy to live in.

That look of concern - I suppose if you're on the lam, it's tricky to make a break for it when you're worried about your cord catching on something. Of course, it's entirely possible this feep isn't on the lam at all. It might just be horrified at the amount of cat hair I had to Photoshop out of this picture (I even lint-rollered first, dammit).

That's always a good sign, when you peer out over the ramparts of your castle and give a look of surprise and alarm.

You will never be lost at sea with this handy talisman, I tell you what. (Unless being eaten by a sea monster counts as "lost"? I dunno. Seems like you'd know where you were - in the belly of a monster!)

Stick with the hardwood, or put in carpet? Decisions, decisions. (The conundrum, of course, being that it is more delightful to eject hairballs onto carpet and other difficult-to-clean objects, but the snail portion of the snat would rather glide over a nice, smooth surface.)

Something's gotta take on the task of cleaning up any spilled sailors. If the spill happens because the monster "accidentally" bumped the boat, well, whatayagonnado?

One of my projects of the last few months has been to improve my product photos for Etsy. In the past I've eschewed plain white backgrounds because they're kinda boring, but lately I've had to admit that they add a lot of clarity to a thumbnail-sized feep, which is what most people are browsing on Etsy. So I've given in and started doing more white background shots. I'll continue to have to funky scenes, though, for this blog and for Etsy images that aren't the primary product image.

When sneaking into the basements of Lego castles, it is best to be on your guard for slithery, squiggly things that may be lurking amidst the bricks.

First off, sorry about my prolonged absence. I've been dealing with health issues that, while not life-threatening or anything, definitely preclude the creation of new feeps. Things are slowly getting better, so I'm slowly getting back into my various work habits, as I'm able.
I haven't made any new figurines in awhile, but I have been going back and re-photographing various feeps with my new camera, so there's actually quite a backlog of photos to post despite everything. Here's one of 'em.

My guess is that this creature reproduces by budding - once the number of tentacles becomes cumbersome, a little batch of them will detach and a wee new tentacle horror is born.

I'm at that age where all my friends are having kids, so over the last couple of years I've cranked out quite a few feep onesies. I finally managed to make a few more than I need, and have put them up in the Feeping Creatures Etsy Store.

Clearly this cyclops did not get the memo and is horrified by cobweb-covered ramshackle dwellings. I guess some monsters just prefer their lairs to be tidy.

It is once again time for Austin's own Independent Media Expo! This weekend, March 3-4, you will find the feeps at the Marchesa Hall. More deets on the STAPLE! website. Hope to see you there!

Sorry about the sporadic posting of late. I'm in the midst of finishing up a rather massive project with a rather looming deadline. I have a stack of feep photos I haven't even had a chance to sort through yet. But! I shall resume normal posting soon.

You know how a legless lizard looks kind of like a snake, except it's not, it's just a lizard whose legs evolved away? Well, this dragon is sort of like that. No legs, no wings, just horn-like antennae. We may presume on the inside there are vestigial wing and leg structures, but I advise against cutting the dragon open in order to find out. Dragons are not known to take kindly to people who brandish sharp objects at them, and such interactions are prone to end in tears. And flames.

This barnacle is known to affix itself to nauseatingly cute creatures, thereby restoring balance and harmony to the universe. It nourishes itself upon the moment sappy sentiment gives way to perplexed horror, as the viewer of the original nauseatingly cute creature shifts from "Awww!" to "Ewww!"
