Large Green & Black Tentacle Twist

SuperFlex is also good for making really big tentacle monsters. Most of my XL feeps have been made from SuperFlex. So why did I stop using the stuff? I had a couple of batches in a row of clay that was far too hard to work with, and since most of the colors were only available in multi-packs, it was difficult to know ahead of time if the clay I was getting was any good.

King Squid

One of the recent SuperFlex creations. I keep meaning to do a long post about my impressions of various brands and types of polymer clay, but things keep being busy. Anyway, SuperFlex: great for tentacles!

Black & Red Snat

I've been off the grid, in a strange land of no internet. It's been an interesting experience, traveling back in time. I am on my way back to the future now, though.

Season's Feepings from SantaClops!

This is the Christmas card I made for my grandmother this year.

Carnivorous Santa Hat

The Carnivorous Santa Hat: it's like the headcrab of holiday cheer!

Sea Slug

Apparently hanging out in the Red Sea, ha ha.

Slate Tentacle Twist

Some pets will climb over the fence or dig under it to escape the back yard. Others opt for a more elegant approach.

Tuesday, December 21, 2010

Sea Worm

All the plankton shall tremble in fear!

Monday, December 20, 2010

Octopoid Tentacle Twist

My suspicion is that this is not a true octopus, but rather a tentacle monster who has evolved to mimic an octopus.

This is one of several new listings in my Etsy shop, most likely my last store update for the year.

Green Squip

Gotta go take photos today. After it warms up a li'l bit.

Saturday, December 18, 2010

Feep Snail

After neglecting it for a couple of years, I have lately been playing with the Sculpey SuperFlex clay again. Many, many tentacles have resulted. Pix to come soon!

Friday, December 17, 2010

Coiled Purple Tentacle Twist

This feep has heard that if you wait patiently, The Great Tentacle will make an appearance at this location.

Thursday, December 16, 2010

Von Snoot Snake Candy Cane Orneryment

It just occurred to me that I need to make an ornery varmint orneryment.

Wednesday, December 15, 2010

Turtleface

Took a wee coffee break at Spiderhouse this weekend. The feeps heart indie coffee chops.

Tuesday, December 14, 2010

Raspberry Nautilus

My general sentiments about having to get up today.

Feep Skull

Dylan's Horticultural Tips: Want to find out if a particular plant is carnivorous? Simply check for skulls around the base of the plant.

Sunday, December 12, 2010

Blue Angler Fish

I suspect this fish looks a bit grumpy because the giant burning orb in the sky is distracting all the little morsels from the angler's lure.

Also, I put up some new listings in the Etsy shop last night. A handful of new figurines, plus relisting some shirts I now have back in stock.

Saturday, December 11, 2010

Bat Demon Orneryment

Got a small number of new feeps to photograph today, that I may list them forthwith. Also got a restock of shirts, which I will be listing soon. My point is, stuff impends.

Crouching Tentacle Twist

You never know what's on the other side of the hydrant ...

Thursday, December 9, 2010

Cone Hat Octopus

You know how it is. When it's winter your head gets cold, and when you're basically all head, a hat becomes more important than ever.

Wednesday, December 8, 2010

Candy Cane Spike Orneryment

There aren't any fir trees around here that I've been able to find, so instead you get the festive xmas juniper.

Tuesday, December 7, 2010

Grimace Feep-o-Lantern

This is from a recent commission to make some feepy pumpkins. The feep is hanging out with a handful of burr oak acorns, so it's not that the feep is unusually small, but rather the acorns are unusually large.

Monday, December 6, 2010

Candy Cane Octopus

Once again, it is time to break out the traditional holiday cephalopod.

Sunday, December 5, 2010

Purple Spike Orneryment

The new batch of feeps includes a few new orneryments, so you can have yourself a crepuscular little [insert winter holiday here]. I should have them up in the Etsy store later today.

Saturday, December 4, 2010

Blue & Silver Coil Twist

Feep photo shoot today! New feep photos sooooon!

Friday, December 3, 2010

Devo Cyclops

Benn workin' on some new feeps this week. My goal is to get them photographed and up in the Etsy store over the weekend. Stay tuned!

Thursday, December 2, 2010

Fiery Upright Tentacle Twist

I guess it must have been cold last night, as I had cats glued to me the entire time. Made turning over a bit difficult, to say the least.

Wednesday, December 1, 2010

Masked Cat

Bears a resemblance to the members of the raccoon gang that likes to hang out on the porch from time to time.

Tuesday, November 30, 2010

Coil Snootbird

Gonna see if I can get a few more feeps made this week and up in the Etsy store. Will it actually happen? Who can say!

Monday, November 29, 2010

Coil Barnacle

Fence barnacles: one of the hazards of living somewhere humid.

Blue Ghost Squid

The Ghost of Squidmas Past takes a short break from haunting Victorian misers.

Saturday, November 27, 2010

Raspberry Nautilus

I made my parents watch Zombieland last night, as I felt it was an important part of their cinematic education. Today my mom attempts to eat my brains. This is the thanks I get for trying to help.

Pit Crew Tentacle Twist

A one-monster chop shop for all your car-repair needs.

Thursday, November 25, 2010

Blue & Orange Von Snoot

Austin doesn't really do iconic autumnal vistas, so this is about the best I can do for a fall-themed photo (on short notice, anyway).

Wednesday, November 24, 2010

Squid Twist

Now here's a puzzle for the feepologist: is this tentacle twist experiencing convergent evolution with a squid, or is it perhaps engaging in a bit of mimicry in order to fool predators?

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

Black & Red Tentacle Mollusc

I updated the Feeping Creatures Etsy Store yesterday with a bunch of new listings, including new figurines and new original art. Just so's ya know!

Monday, November 22, 2010

Coil Twist

This seems to be a relative of the classic tentacle twist feep, but clearly branched off at some point. Must have evolved in an environment that required more eyeball protection.

Sunday, November 21, 2010

Cuttlefish Squid

You might think you're looking at its front end, but you can never be sure.

Saturday, November 20, 2010

Green & Purple Upright Tentacle Twist

As yet, it is unclear whether this is a different species of tentacle twist, or if this is merely the common version sitting in a different position.

Friday, November 19, 2010

Blue & Copper Tentacle Twist

Kato Polyclay works better for making tentacle twists than Premo does, so I've been playing with some new designs. This, of course, is the Tentacle Twist Classic, but shortly you shall see what it has evolved into ....

Orange Cat agog over feep merch at the Oasis

So, the exciting announcement I promised:

The Oasis Gift Shop, which is attached to The Oasis restaurant on Lake Travis, now carries feep mugs, shot glasses, and buttons. If things go well, I'll be adding new items in the coming months, including coasters, tiles, and pillows (!!). The Oasis Gift Shop features a great many other items by local artists, so if you're in Austin you should stop by sometime.

Wednesday, November 17, 2010

Horned Slug

I should, if all goes according to plan, have an exciting announcement for you tomorrow. If all doesn't go according to plan, forget I said anything.

Tuesday, November 16, 2010

Duck-billed Eel

Much like a platypus, it's hard to know how to classify this particular feep. Sea monster? Bird? Probably a bit of both.

Monday, November 15, 2010

Coil Nightcap

The show is done, and I have three feeps left. I guess I need to get started on making some more, eh?

Sunday, November 14, 2010

Halloween Snat and Austin Comic Con Madness

This show is officially insane! I really had no idea what to expect, since this is the first year it's been in Austin (Wizard World Texas used to be in Dallas, for those of you keeping score). I'd done the Dallas show a couple of times, which had ranged from meh to really good. But the Austin incarnation is officially my biggest sales bonanza ever, and there's still a whole day left to go.

This means I will have to hit the ground running to get a bunch of new feeps made for online holiday sales. Not the worst of problems to have, really. And it means I get to make more Snats, one of my favorite designs to do.

Saturday, November 13, 2010

Snoot Bird Silhouette

Walter Koenig came by my table yesterday at Austin Comic Con. He was just generally browsing, mind you, and didn't really stop, so it's not quite as exciting as it may sound. :)

But it's the sort of randomness one encounters at these things.

Friday, November 12, 2010

Blue Squip

Austin Comic Con starts today! This feep, plus many others, will be making its debut at the show.

Thursday, November 11, 2010

Feathered Eyestalk

Today I go forth to pick up my restock of mugs and shirts, and then head down to the Convention Center to set up for Austin Comic Con. Madness awaits!

Wednesday, November 10, 2010

Green Coil Cyclops

Austin Comic Con is nearly upon us! The show starts Friday, Nov. 12th, and I shall have oh, so many feeps to show you.

Platypus

I'm not saying it's going to be Monotreme Week here at Feep o' the Morning, but once I realized how to make a duck bill I guess I did go a little crazy.

Making a feep platypus was harder than it might seem. There's always something a bit more difficult about making a feep version of an animal that's essentially already a living feep.
