Feep-O-Lanterns!

These photos were sent to me yesterday, and I had no choice but to make them my Daily Monster post for Halloween. Observe the feep-o-lanterns!

The one on the left is by Rupert, the one on the right is by Andrea Wuenschel. All photos by A. Wuenschel.

Red Tri-Horned Blob

The plan for today is to put a bunch of new feeps up in the eBay store, so keep your eyeball (or eyeballs, if you have more than one) open for that.

Zombie Feep at Amy's Ice Cream

From the art show reception last night. Zombie Feep wants to know if brains are available as a Crush'n.

Tentacle Blob

Ever slept with your windows open and been awakened in the middle of the night by something crawling on your face? No? It's probably nothing to worry about then.

Lava Dragon

Looks appropriately Halloweeny, does it not? Can you tell this is my favorite holiday?

Halloween Art Show Reception

This Sunday (October 28, 2007) from 7:00 - 9:00 PM is the closing reception for the Austin Sketch Squad Halloween Art Show at Amy's Ice Cream on 6th & Lamar. You are all invited to come see the art, meet the artists, and have some delicious Amy's ice cream. Oh, and pretty much all of the art is for sale, so bring some cash. :) I'm also going to bring a bunch of brand-new feeps, so this is your chance to grab them before they go in the Feep eBay store.

View the Evite Invitation

I think you can just add yourself to the Evite if you want, but you don't have to RSVP. Just show up!

El Diablo del Toro

No relation to Benicio. It has feet, but I made them out of non-glow clay so it would look like it was hovering when it was glowing.

Black Cat Demon Necklace

Back to the Halloween spirit of things, eh? I keep meaning to make a zombie feep; perhaps I'll do that later today.

Manic Monster Orneryment

I'd watch out for this one if I were you. It might eat the other ornaments on your tree (or Hanukkah bush, or whatever).

Black Bat Wine Charm

I'm on a quest to make more bat feeps. The challenge is partially in the positioning, since they don't really stand up, sit down, or lie around. So at the moment my thoughts are leaning toward hanging objects like wine charms, necklaces, and ornaments, and here is the first attempt.

Guilty Devil Necklace

I'm not exactly sure what sort of mischief necklaces get up to that they need to feel guilty about, but clearly there's something going on.

This morning I'm headed off to Sparks to do a feep restock. After that you can expect a Feep eBay Store restock (though the store will be offline while I'm at Sparks, so if there appears to be nothing there that's why).

Purple Swirl Turtle

I used to live near a pond that had several different turtle species living in it, primarily snappers, red-eared sliders, and softshells. My feep turtles are kind of a mash-up of those three types (not that I'm ever trying for any anatomical accuracy with my sculptures).

Red Iguana Dragon

Iguanas like to eat fruit. Dragons like to eat maidens. Iguana Dragons like to eat ... Carmen Miranda?

Sleeping Von Snoot

We finally got a halfway decent cold snap here, perfect curling-up-into-a-ball weather.

Surprised Curly Slug

That's about what my face has looked like, watching the Red Sox get creamed by the Indians in the playoffs.

Except I have more than one eye.

Also more than two teeth.

Purple Blob

One of the earliest feeps, and a good reminder to me to do more monsters with nubby little horns.

Tuesday, October 16, 2007

Plankton

This feep is actually microscopic, and boy is it a pain to sculpt at that size.

Inch Worm

I don't think this feep is a vampire, but the worried glance in the direction of the sun does make one wonder.

Reflection

Taken at an 1825 homestead out in Wells Branch.

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Monster Mash opening at the Lowbrow Emporium last night. If you weren't able to make it, the show will be up through Nov. 30th, so drop by and check it out.

Dungeons & Dragons Mini Feep: Druid

This is another feep from the set of Dungeons & Dragons character miniatures I was commissioned to make.

Friday, October 12, 2007

Green Cat Monster

Another feep photo by Dan Machold. I'm pretty sure you want garden feeps, as they aerate the soil or something.

Don't forget, tomorrow night is the opening reception for the Monster Mash art show at the Lowbrow Emporium in south Austin. Details here.

Tooth-Picking Devil

Don't you hate it when bits of whatever unfortunate creature you devoured get stuck in your teeth?

Big-Horned Spike Orneryment

I think I posted this feep before as a necklace, but I have randomly decided it needs to be an Orneryment, so it has been converted. As you may know, Orneryments are the feeping incarnation of xmas ornaments. And yes, I know it's not even Halloween yet, but that's life in retail. Or it could be a Halloween ornament for your Halloween tree, how about that.

This feep had been at the Stash here in Austin, but they have unfortunately had to close permanently, so I put the remainder of the Stash stock up in the Feeping Creatures eBay Store.

Shy Worm

Probably one of the few creatures who has a shell not for physical protection, but rather for emotional security.

Spike

Spike does not care for your cooking.

Stegasnoot

The fossil records show that early snoots were much less pronounced than those of the modern Von Snoot feeps. Clearly evolution has favored the snoot, but the exact mechanism by which it provides a benefit remains unknown.

Urchin

It turns out to be somewhat difficult to get all those spikes on there, especially towards the end of the process when you're having to work around the existing spikes. This is why you are unlikely to see an extensive line of Urchin feeps.

Topknot

This feep belongs to a style group I call "Onions." Perhaps the reason for this is obvious to you and perhaps it is not, but you should know that while I loathe having to eat onions, I find the word "onion" to be highly amusing.

Triapus

Because it's got three tentacles instead of eight, see.

Last night we hung the Halloween art show at Amy's Ice Cream on 6th street (at Lamar, right next to Waterloo Records), and that'll be up all month, so head over there to have some ice cream and check out the art! Lots of fun monstery goodness from a bunch of awesome artists.

Super Feep

There's a song by the Austin-based Asylum Street Spankers called "Super Chief," about a long and pleasant train ride. I love trains and am quite fond of the song for that reason, but ever since I made this feep I find myself substituting "Super Feep" into the lyrics, probably because there's something wrong with my brain. All aboard the Super Feep!

Worried Furry Blue

Another new ACEO, also up for auction on eBay.

I could just about start a whole line of feeps called "Worried Furries." Hmmm.
